 11 years for Savaia Talomua
11 years for Savaia Talomua

Farmers, fishermen and women of Savaia Lefaga showcased the results of their hardworking year at the 11th Anniversary Talomua.

Use your time wisely and don’t just rely on others for survival, was the message.
“The bitter sweet life in Samoa can be hard,” said Tusanilefaiaao Faaolo Reti Simanu.

Tusani had encouraged all the matais of his village to be role models for the upcoming generations.
“Let’s

not depend on others but work together with God for good” is this year’s theme for the Talomua.

Governor of the Central Bank of Samoa, Leasi Papalii Tommy Scanlan was the keynote speaker.
“This Talomua will encourage other farmers from different parts of our country to go back to their plantations for food and income,” said Leasi.
Savaia had also contributed to the bank through revenue from the sale of their crops.

“We aren’t affected by the financial crisis, our sea, land and crafts are our main sources of income,” Leasi said.
He congratulated the village for the great effort and supporting another wish of the government, which is backing up plantations and marine reserves.

Savaia has its own local market at the roadside where they sell crops if they can’t make it to Fugalei market.
The village received $92,000 from this local market last year.
